Naural Fiber Cluster is a new initiative of the KJMTVFS. This project has been sanctioned by the MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), Govt of India on September 16, 2008. The total outlay is Rs. 4.85 crores. The consortium has to raise 10% (Rs. 48.5 lakhs) of the outlay while the Govt of Kerala would provide support to the tune of 20% (Rs.97 lakhs) and the Govt of India 70% (Rs.339 lakhs). The major objectives of this program are: 1. To set up a training center for women engaged in screwpine, coir and jute product manufacture. 2. To find international market for the products manufactured. 3. To maximise returns for the women workers This project is proposed to be set up at Thalayazham in Vaikom Muncipality. The facilities for manufacture of different types of screwpine, coir and jute products will be established at this cluster. The land has already been identified and is in the process of registeration. Funds from the State Govt towards the building and infrastructure will then be released. This project is expected to be operational in 18 months.
All the cluster units will be integrated like the screwpine leaves shown above
